The Sync-Ratio is what allows the pilot to communicate with the Eva. The player begins a match with an 80% Sync-Ratio. When the player receives damage, the Sync-Ratio decreases according to the damage type. If the Sync-Ratio drops to 0, the pilot is no more linked to the Eva and the Eva shuts down, which gives a point to the damage instigator. But the player can also increase it Sync-Ratio using 2 different methods. He can pick up the Dummy Plug Item which increases the ratio by 30% without exceeding 100%. The player can get over 100% by shooting the opponents, which increases the Sync-Ratio by half of the damage inflicted. The maximum is 150% and if the player reaches this level, the Eva goes Berserk. In berserk mode, the Eva runs faster, jumps higher and shoots bullets faster for 30 seconds. On top of all that, the Sync-Ratio has an impact on the Eva properties. The higher the ratio is, the faster it runs and the tougher it becomes.
